Thirst For Words

Standard

I sink my teeth into the neck of the novel
as I crack open the cover
and pierce my eyes
upon the first page.

I  taste the sweet succulence
of victim’s blood as if
I were the one to feed.

Swept into my fantasy
through the words of another,
carefully balance each existence
as I salivate with my shiny-grey eyes
rolled toward the back of my head.

Energy flows through me
as I flip from page to page,
paper cuts fuel adrenaline
as I near the story’s climax
and my own.

I awake with mouth open
fangs protrude, blood dried, cracked,
my body sprawled on my chair,
book lays open upon my chest.

I yawn and mischievously think to myself;
“What should I read next?”
